I think you can eneter a destination while driving by using voice command, I have used voice command while driving and using the Navagation and it has worked for me. In order for the passenger to input info you the driver would have to push the voice command button while the passenger comunicated the destination info.

Mallory....I'm glad you said something about using the Navigation system while driving. I've also used the voice command feature WHILE driving to get directions... and guess what....it WORKS!!...;-)

In my opinion, the voice commands are VERY limited and don't work that well...

Additionally, they only help for categories, but not for specific destinations, which is what I use most of the time... For example, you are driving down the highway and want to find the closest Best Buy... You cannot do this with voice commands...

Default You can't prevent stupidity.

And what is this about killing your wife because of killing an insect yesterday? That is supposed to have something to do with preventing someone in the car from fiddling with controls while they are driving, be it the radio or their cell phone or their navigation system.

How many times have you known of someone who was fumbling for a ringing cellphone while driving? Or turning up their radio so loud that they could not hear a siren if the ambulance was behind them? You would think we would have learned that we cannot prevent stupidity when we started to put child-proof caps on pill bottles that now requires seniors to call their eight-year old grandchildren to open the bottles for them.

Seriously, what dufus would really believe that making it more difficult to get directions on the car Navigation system is going to make a driver pull over on a freeway to reset his Navi. It is going to make them reach for their Android to try to punch in the Navigation application instead. Or drive them to buy another brand on their next car purchase.

While we're at it, why not make an INTUITIVE GSP like my $75 TOMTOM. That's my only real complaint with Lexi (I own 2)...the navi's STINK.

I would rather die going off the cliff while using the navigation than pulling to the side of the road and get rear ended.............just me. I am calling Prestige Society now.

Voice commands don't work for me.... my southern drawl gets the navi all confused. In 2007 I invested in the PS unit, and my spouse/passenger use it extensively.

Rear ended by a distracted driver using his Prestige override?

I didn't see this thread when it began, but I find it ironic that this criticism comes from the worst rated airline in America. Rather than worrying about a nav lockout, I think they would be better suited devoting their efforts to cabin/crew service, cleanliness, baggage handling, seating comfort and in-flight entertainment, all areas where they ranked at the bottom.

It's just a rather clumsy attempt to try to divert the passengers attention away from the fact that he/she is having an awful experience on their flight.

My '09 Nissan Altima had the Nav lockout too, so it's not just Lexus that thinks it's unsafe. I hate the lockout, but I see where they are coming from.
