My wife assumed I was too young (I will be 52 in May) for the car because we saw a number of 70 something people buying them when we went for a couple test drives.

I almost bought a GS 350 AWD and noted from a poll here that most of those owners are in their 20s and 30s. Anyway, I finally decided against that car because it does not fit me well (I am too big for it) and the run flats feel like they came off Fred Flintstone's car.

My guess is I am right around the average age for the LS. For one thing, I appreciate more now the comfort of the front seats and things like the button on the steering wheel for holding the brake on at a light when my bum knee is bugging me.

Anyway, another couple weeks or so and the LS should be in my garage.

In terms of average age, it depends but Lexus' marketed efforts are targeted at the 50-ish age bracket first and foremost. In Lexus marketing articles posted online, the key point "an American turns 50 every eight seconds" is used to discuss this market. These people have achieved success in their lives and are headed for luxury cars...and Lexus is trying to cater to them.

Usually its the older 60-70s people who own these cars because most likely they have already paid off their house and other things so they decide to spend their money on a nicer/expensive car. My parents are around 50 years old and they're still paying off the house. We're stuck with two new hondas instead.

52 is never too young to own an LS460. It's becoming more of a trend for younger buyers to buy the LS460. Given the choice between a new GS350/450h/etc, i'll be more than glad to put down the extra money for the LS460.

No way are you too young. Get what you want, who cares who else has one? Im 26 and I got my 460 6 weeks ago. If anything, many 460 buyers are too old for it given the level of advanced features and technology in the car. It just confuses many of them.

No, I know I am not too young for this car-it was just an observation my wife made based on the people we happened to see at the dealer on two occasions. Also, like someone suggested, I am sure that the average age of an LS driver is older than it would be if the car were only $35k.

If the later were true, I'd buy two.
