Default To Pinstripe or not to Pinstripe?

The white on white 460 with radar cruise control that I ordered back on July 19 has finally arrived and hopefully the chrome 19"wheels from China will be arriving in the next 4-8 days. The question I have is whether to pinstipe the car or not. The salesman thinks it breaks up the flow of the car, but I think it may dress it up a little. Any suggestions or whether this improves the appearance or not? Any suggestion on the best color or colors for it? Thanks.

Congrats on the new LS!

Not sure if this will help or not, but here is a recent IS owner who has a stripe on the car (photos):

Maybe you could photoshop up a photo of the 460 to see if you like it.

Congrats on the new LS460

As for the pinstripe, I'd say no, I certainly won't do it if it's my car.

No.

The car is clean as is. The pinstripe will be distracting. You don't want the pinstripe to overpower the subtleness of the car...

Agreed, pinstriping will only cheapen the look of the car.

And while you're at it, stay away from those Yosemite Sam mudflaps, too.

As courteous as possible, "Please, no pinstripes"

Can you tell us about the chrome wheels from China?

My dealer put them on my car by mistake. I had them take them off. They looked terrible...

BTW, my car is silver...

I wouldn't have the pinstripes on my car. I think they look tacky and cheapen the look of the LS460.

IMO, I think cars look better without pinstripes.

Only you can answer that question. If you like the look of a pinstripe, then by all means get it. Doesn't make a wit's worth of difference whether any of us like it. My only caution would to be sure to use a top professional to paint them.

As for color, again that is subject to personal taste. On a white car you probably should go with a lighter color. A good shop should have photos of their work to give you ideas.
