Has anyone put protective side molding on their LS to prevent door dings? If so, where did you have it done? How much? Do you have any pictures???
Thanks!
Thanks!

I agree it will probably be detrimental to the car's appearance . . .
just try to park away from everybody, although that may not work out, since some people seem to like parking next to nice cars nomatter where it's parked. Another alternative is to try to park next to very expensive car(s), chances are the owner will be very careful with doors too . . .

No matter how careful you are, the dings will come sooner or later and fill you with annoyance and frustration. That's been my experience. Some people just don't aren't ready to take the extra care not to leave unsightly dings on people's nice and expensive cars. Usually happens at malls and in public garages.
I took out a ding protection plan with Lexus because of that. This way, when the dings appear, I'll take the car in for them to be removed.

Why not put plastic on the leather seats too and make it really look like grandma's house? Dings will happen...it's a car in the real world. I just take mine in once a year and have the paintless removal guys take them out.

Parking lot dings can be easily removed using a special L-shaped tool with a ball tip. For a door, small hole is drilled on the side, and the tool is inserted bringing the ball tip in contact with the subject area. Using a fluorescent light, placed at the end of the vehicle, gentle but firm pressure is applied until the ding is gently coerced smooth. The hole is then primed and plugged. It takes about ten minutes, and usually they will do two to four dings for $100. We have a shop who specialize in this "art" in the Vancouver area, and they get their tools from a US supplier. You can see a brief video of their work by following this link.

You can put a very thin protective strip of the same 3M film used for the clear bra at the doors, to avoid dings at the edge when opening close to a wall for example. In fact, I saw a LWB at the dealer that had it installed already and it's hard to see.
