Any dealer that wants a premium over sticker and doesn't even have any in stock is just a small time dealer that doesn't deserve your attention.
I agree. Here in Vegas, we have only one. Ergo, MRSP + "market adjusted price". LOL. My eye.

Forget about threatning and all that. Just walk away. It's a simple "thanks, but no thanks" approach. As soon as you step out the door someone will chase you and when that happens, ask for a 5K discount over regular MSRP and walk away again.

How much did you guys paid for your car? My local sales guy said the typical BS "there is a waiting list on these cars and we dont offer discounts off MSRP!" I laughed and walked out. this is in newport news VA

black on black. $72k MSRP. $3,700 under MSRP + license + tax. this is at Longo Lexus.

of course, there is always B.S. all 3 dealers (including Longo) we went to, said there are very few LS in stock. They all say that, so you will feel better paying MSRP. Costco's price was $2k below MSRP. we knew we could get a little more than that.

totally agree, after all they want to get the most money out of you. so negotiation is tough on cars like these. but i heard the ls460 (not the L) are more common now

I bought one of the first cars and they only took $1K off MSRP. They also gave me a free set of all weather mats and wired my radar detector. I've only purchased 5 cars from them. At that time, they weren't offering discounts.

If a dealer ever tries to tell you that a car is "rare" or "scarce", just calmly ask them if they're collecting the cars or selling them. If they answer that they're selling them, then tell them that you know that they can order 10 just like the one that's so "rare" that they're trying to sell you.

Dealerships love building a sense of urgency in the customer to help facilitate irrational decisions. Once they realize you're laughing at them (and not with them), things tend to go differently.

Yeah. The answer I'd offer is "Wow. Waiting list, huh? Guess I'll either wait a year, or find another car to buy. Thanks for your time."

It's all supply and demand.
