Tire pressure - what gives?
Once I got over the fascination of displaying the tire pressures on the center display, I finally got around to checking the recommendations located on the door pillar sticker. The five tire pressures on the display fluctuate between 37-39 psi. The sticker pressure says those numbers should be 33 psi. Are the tire pressures set high prior to overseas shipping? Are the pressure transmitters accurate? Is this just a PDI oversight that should have been adjusted before delivery?

Please be advised that even if you set your tire pressure at 33psi you will get different readings due to outside temperature and tire temperature as you travel the highway. A tire guages will read 1 or 2 psi off from your car guage. If I want my car guage to read 33psi than my tire guage that I use will read 32psi. Set your tires at 33psi and don't worry about the car read out unless you have a tire that reads 30psi or less when cold. I check my tire pressure once a month. What you are seeing is normal. If a tire drops to low in psi you will get a low tire pressure warning.

I was at the dealer today and asked them about the tire pressure. I was told that Lexus told the dealer to set it to 38 PSI in the PDI. I said "But the label says it has to be 33 PSI" and the answer was it's a carry over from the LS 430, they just didn't change the label. Honestly, I did not say anything to this sales person, but I think he was full of *****.

The tech told me to run 35 PSI cold in my tires. 38 won't hurt, but you would get a stiffer ride. I've always run more air than what is posted on the label from Lexus.

It's funny that this was brought up. I have the touring package and my tires were set at 46psi which I could not believe. I also assumed that they were set this way for trip to the US so the tires would not flat spot. To make a long story short I lowered the pressure to 38PSI even though my sticker says 33psi. The issue I have now is that I think I hear more tire noise and that the car does not ride as smooth. Has anyone had the same experience?

I have a tire pressure gage and have consistently checked it against the display after filling the tires with air to the recommended 33 psi. No problems with the display agreeing with the pressure gage and the ride is nice at 33.

I think the label on the door instructing that the tire pressure be set at 33psi
is exactly what Lexus intended,I doubt very seriously that it is a carry over from the LS430.
My car was delivered to me with the tire pressure set at 33psi and personally that is what I prefer because of the softer ride that you get and in that I will not be driving at speeds any where near 135mph 33psi is ok with me, however I may run the tires with 34 or 35 psi but not over that.
Speaking of tires I read where someone had the new Bridgestone Turanza Serenitys put on their car and thought they were better than the EL42's, I have been thinking about doing the same but I prefer the sidewall design of the EL42 over the Serenitys, Michelin has a sidewall design that is close to the EL42 but I think the Serenity may even be better than the michelin. I guess I am going to have to decide if I want looks or better performance.

Hey not to hijack the thread but I noticed you have a 99 bird, I had a 2001 SOM WS6, here's the link

As of tire pressure, I use always the recommended by Lexus on mine.
