Hello,
I am a newbie to this forum, but I just picked up a brand new LS460L. Driving on the freeways up to 85Mph with all windows up and the radio off, I do hear wind but it is a distant sound, a disconnected sound. Just playing the stereo at a low volume easily cancels it out.
Having a vehicle at this level is a litle new to me (my previous car was an '06 SC430, so I have some experience), but I am curious -- are you expecting complete and total silence when driving fast on the freeways (with a smooth road surface)? My car is nearly silent on a smooth surface at high speeds.
Also, I haven't experienced much in the way of hiccups, but it may be too soon for me to notice. Only sometimes if I am driving in the 20-30Mph range (not sure which gear it is in), if I floor the gas pedal, there is a 1/2 second pause before the engine roars to life. Most of the time, the engine is ready to soar, as soon as I push on the gas pedal. My '06 SC 430 had a lot more "pause" before roaring to life, especially from a standing stop. The LS 460L, to me, is a lot more responsive.
But then, I don't drive like a race-car driver, so...

It can be quite disconcerting when you're trying to merge onto the highway and have to abruptly cancel the maneuver because of this hesitation.
Since this issue has been around so long, I expect it's a "Design feature" rather than an issue that Lexus has any intention on fixing.
I have high hopes that because of the CVT, this isn't an issue on the LS600hL .

Hello, the mirrors are causing alot of wind turbulance, however the base model ls does have a fix to lower the decibel about 5 tones. lexus has introduced a fix for base models, this includes removeing window moldings and inserting 2 inch pieces of sticky foam in strategic areas. we have done 2 now, im not sure there is a tsb since i cant acces it from home to see. i do know the ls are now getting this same fix on the assembly line.
for everyone with a 460 base model and you think there is alot of noise inform your dealer that you need the ls460l windows installed along with the foam padding along the window frame. keep in mind most of the noise is from the mirrors and the way the air flows from the hood.
as far as 460l owners im not sure if they have the foam installed, you may inquire about it. if they tell you they do not know what your talking about have them contact the area field technical specialist and they should know what to do. if not, I can find out more if you guys need it.
hope this info helps.

You will need to have the windows changed and more insulation added. I've already had the field fix done and it didn't work. I'm first in line for new windows and insulation from my dealer. Lexus is still working on the problem. I will post once the dealer calls with a real fix. Let me know if your dealer calls you first. I've heard the transmission fix will be out in July...

Just got off the phone with the service manager and he confirmed that Lexus is going to replace the glass in the LS460 with the glass in the LS460L, there will be some other adjustments that will be made as well.It looks like the end of the month for the fix so we will just have to wait and see.

I haven't heard from my dealer since my last phone call to them. They told me, it would be soon. I will post as soon as they call with a real fix. Mallory, please do the same...
