LS460 Brake Actuator Noise

I heard the noise mostly in reverse and once in a while when vehicle was in drive. I was told that the brake pads were worn and that the popping noise was due to the shifting of the pads because they were worn. I had new pads put on and that appears to have taken care of the problem.(at 28K miles) I do hear a pop noise from the dash area when the idle is around 400rpms while I depress the brake pedal. Is that what you are speaking of?

I am now experiencncing this on a 2010 LS460L at about the 2000 mile mark. The head tech heard it as well and will investigate it next week. Hard to hear from the passenger side; easy to hear from the driver's side. Made him think it was in front of him in the engine compartment--possibly the actuator.
Though he stated that the new brakes this year do not seem to have actuator issues.

Had same noise in my 2007 LS. First noticed when braking from about 35-40mph to a stop, could hear clicking repeatedly (from somewhere under dash or in engine compartment) that slowed in frequency as car slowed. Single "click" when depressing brake pedal when car idling and ambient noise level was sufficiently low to hear the noise. Service tech said it was brake actuator. They replaced, took care of the problem. Apparently Lexus replaces only if customer complains and requests the replacement.

It took one full day. No signs of wear or tear due to the work. The car has been fine since!

I have it also on my '10 Sport. I'll wait until the next time I bring the car in (about 1,500 miles) and have them replace the actuator. I heard the noise since the car was new but was pretty much ignoring it since everything seemed to work well but if I can get rid of it, why not!

Had the steering ECU recall repair done today. The brake noise is gone though they did not do the actuator. Go figure, and stay tuned. Steering is fine. Usual good Lexus Service--car wash and a tank of gas.

Unlock it?

Good thought, but it opens an inch or so when the button is pressed. Then freezes. If I pull the box down it goes, but obviously something out of sight is causing a clearance problem .
I was told that the ecu repair was so easy that nothing could go wrong, go wrong, go wrong . . . .
