The salesman called and said my car would be arrive in 7 to 10 days. I ordered the Noble Spinel Mica. I had to go to dictionary.com to look up "Spinel".

A hard, variously colored cubic mineral, having usually octahedral crystals and occurring in igneous and metamorphosed carbonate rocks. The red variety is valued as a gem and is sometimes confused with the ruby.

Soooooooo, when people ask what color my car is, what do I tell them? I can't say Noble Spinel Mica, what the heck color is that?!

Any suggestions, especially from owners with that color, would be welcome.

Ruby Red would be how I would describe it. Although I think some people will just refer to it as burgundy or maroon if they see it on the road ...

For some reason, my wife and I started calling our last LS430 "Molly". When we needed to use the NAV system, we'd say, "let's ask Molly to show us.....".

Our LS due in August is also going to be Noble Spinel Mica (the more pictures I see, the better I like that color).

You just gave me the idea of calling her "Ruby"! Thanks!

Only "maroon" had come to my mind, but I like both ruby and burgundy better. Somehow those colors just sound more sophisticated!

A fine Cabernet Red with midpalate bouquets of black currants and Cuban cigar boxes (oops). Burgundy's darker.

Yeah, maroon's OK...

I also looked up spinel when I first heard of it, and I think it's an apt description.

Lexus is becoming a little heady, methinks.

I would go with predominantly igneous/metamorphosed octahedrally crystallized Noble Spinel Mica. I figure that after that answer, you don't have to answer any more questions.
