Default LS 600hL vs. Fully-loaded LS 460L

Why is an LS 600hL worth the extra money (~$10,000 it appears) than a fully loaded LS 460L when the LS 600hL offers, at least according to lexus.com, the same acceleration as the 460L (.1 sec slower, actually, but it's close enough to be considered "comparable")?

Does it have newer features not available on the 460L? Will savings from the pump really amount (and surpass) the $10,000 extra paid for the 600hL?

Maybe I'm missing something huge here. Someone please clarify.

The key advantage I see is the all wheel drive. Whether or not that is worth the extra money is up to the individual.

actually a fully loaded 600hl is around 120k, so probably around 20k more.

whatever on paper is on paper, but with the hybrid setup, the tq is the key. the high speed pick up on the 600hl is going to be faster. it has dual stage cvt so it's going to be smoother. then you get awd so probably better handling (together with vsss, which is a big plus). of course you get the led headlights too and full leather dash. but then again you lose another big chunk of the trunk. moreover, you get more out of the pre-collision system compared to the ls460l

so there you go

Trunk capacity of the 600hL listed as 11.65 cu.ft, compared to 12 cu.ft. of the 460L with rear seat upgrade.

Why is that? Is it different from the current system?

umm...... maybe i need to see it in person, if possible, then. coz' i was just reading the july vip magazine which shows the ls600hl trunk. it looks even shallower than the 460l with the rear upgrades..?!

nos, for starters, the 600hl has the steering wheel monitor that monitors if the driver is looking ahead or not

Except you can't get it except with the NM edition or the launch edition, if my dealer is to be believed. I wasn't able to order it.

I would stick with a fully loaded 460.

Other than exclusivity and AWD, there really is no benefit. For some people exclusivity and AWD is worth the extra $$$...

I cant wrap my big noggin over the price of $120,000. Its been a couple of minutes, I still cant.....maybe because I cant afford it!!!! I talked to my salesman buddy at Lexus and he told me that dealers only get alloted 2 LS600hL and you have to be a current "elite of lexus" winner or you dont get any allocations!

Options that the LS600h L has over the LS460:
1) more wood and more leather (leather dash and doors, wood on the assist handles)
2) AWD Torsen
3) Hybrid powertrain
4) 438 horses versus 381
5) Fuel Economy (i guess) and SULEV rating
6) exclusiveness
7) LED Headlights
8) blue badges

whether or not thats worth 20K is up to you. My guess is that the hybrid powertrain and AWD are the main differences in cost.

My dealer said they could not build any with advanced pre-collision system currently (other than NM) due to a shortage of components but that they would be available again in 2-3 months and my choice was to take car without or wait. I figured I've waited this long and want the car the way I want it so I'm waiting.

i thought the 600hl gas mileage is 20/22? if so i think the 460 has better mileage?

well...in a way i meant gas mileage for the power. But...for instance, my RX says 18/24 but i get 13, mostly intown driving. I imagine a hybrid to be much better in in town driving.
