I am asking whether the vinyl dash feels like real leather?

 

I think it depends on who you are asking. I can tell it doesn't feel like real leather, but I know some people probably can't.

 

the dash on the ls460 doesn't feel like leather, it's much harder, but then you won't say it's "plastic" feel. i personally like it

 

Does anyone have any idea whether a base Mercedes S550 gets a full leather dash?

I have been to a couple Mercedes dealers & looked at the S550 quite closely the past couple weeks, the S550 does not come with full leather dash.
The S600, S63 AMG & S65 AMG do come with full leather dash as standard though.

You can get full leather dash for a S550 only if you pay $thousands more for the special Designo interior packages where you get different exclusive leather colors, wood trims & alcantra linings etc.

 

Pardon my ignorance, but can anyone tell me whether the Canadian base model of the 600hL come with a full leather dash?

No it doesn't.
In Canada, it's either the base model with no leather dash, or you have to get the Executive Package with full leather dash & a bunch of other options packaged together for almost C$30K more

That's crazy.

It's like offering a vanilla cone or a 3 flavor triple scoop cone with sprinkles and the works. That might be ok for a $1 or $3 ice cream, but for a car over C$100k!??

Lexus is too inflexible on options!!!
