since i have the swb (non air suspension) and am getting very impatient for someone to make coilovers, should i just cut the springs until some come out?
has anyone done this? is it even possible? i know with the bmw 7, you cant just cut the springs.

yeah...you guys are right about the ride eventually getting bad. however, i have no other choice. i mean, i wish somebody would tell me they were making something, but nobody seems to be in development for them. how long would it take for the ride to get bad you think? i just want to do it until somebody makes a coilover for the car. how much are stock springs if i need to replace anyway? it is possible to cut these springs right?
another question:
do you think people would be in the market for used 22 inch auto coutures for the ls460 in a few months? the reason i ask is, i am going to be buying some 22's in february or so (the wheel isnt in production just yet). i am thinking about buying some wheels right now just to tide me over and hope not to take such a big hit when i try to sell them.
thanks guys...and sorry for the long post

Cutting your springs is a bad idea. Not only you void your warranty but you also destroy the geometry of the car. I don't care how "specialist" the guy who cuts springs calls himself, that's just bad engineering (ie - no engineering skills whatsoever) and anyone that have just a notion of how materials behave (steel) in various conditions (temperature and load) understands that putting 5,000lb of breaking pressure on cut springs is a recepy for disaster.
Don't do it.
Don't do it.

you have a living room couch on wheels. why would you want to take away the plush cushions? you could just swap off your tires for lower pro one's in the mean time. haha..I mean, you did say you wanted a rough ride, right?

Hey man I found the perfect forum: http://www.clubsi.com
Those guys know all about cutting springs and blinging wheels. They would probably be more encouraging too. Good luck!
