Can someone who recently had the Grace notes update let me know the latest version? My dealer says there have been no upgrades. They say the same about the transmission software update...

My car which was delivered in November came with CDDB (Gracenote) version 1129.

I understand from the dealer that the latest version is 1381.

I will be getting the CDDB and transmission flash done next week and will be able to confirm the version then.

As mentioned before on this board, the dealer needs special programming equipment and technician training to do the update.

Wouldn't it have been cool if the cars could just use bluetooth from your phone and poll the Freedb db?
Or even the AccurateRip db when you rip to .flac!
Heck, it could also search amazon.com for album art pictures...

Ah, now you're dreaming vraa. I, on the other hand look forward to a time when navigation maps, and all the pertinent data is accessed live from satellite-borne servers, where they are updated daily in real time. That way I can avoid exit ramps that don't exist, restaurants that closed five years ago, and large cities that aren't in the database yet.

What really burns my buns is that all of the technology to do all of that is in place right now.

After hearing news that Apple was working with Mercedes to design the next car navigation system, I hope that Lexus has some trick ace up their sleeve. After playing around with the iPhone, Apple has some serious knack of making things work.

I wish Lexus has a better feedback program instated. It wouldn't cost much to create a pathway to be able to submit comments directly to the engineers much in the way open source programs have bug tracking systems.

Has anyone had their grace notes database updated recently? What is the latest version? I'm bringing my car in for the grace notes database update (or referred to as CDDB).

I had an update done yesterday.

Updated to version 1687 05/2007

Previous version was 1381 11/2006

Original version that came with the car on delivery in Nov 2006 was 1129 5/2006.

Does anyone know what is physically involved when the CDDB update is performed? How is the HDD accessed, etc.

Thanks for the info. It certainly appears that because of the IEEE 1394 input in the vehicle that the system could be modified to accept direct input of MP3 files onto the HDD. Many of us have thousands of files already loaded onto our computers using the CDDB database which could be readily transferred.

My vehicle currently has the May 2006 CDDB version. I'm wondering if the CDDB database used by Lexus is an abbreviated one. I've already had one CD which was not in the database but I used the CDDB database to load it onto my computer in 2003 and I just checked and it is still on the CDDB database accessed through iTunes.
