I have the same problem. The service center says the fan is working, but it never cools enough.

I guess a real complaint has to be made in order for them to do something.

I have never brought it in for that problem, I always mention it when I bring it in for something else.

It is very subtle especially if you have jeans or a suit on but it does work just enough to keep you from being stuck to the seat. BMW and Mercedes cooled seats are the same way...

I agree and mentioned it to my dealer right away that I felt that the seats didn't cool very much.... I bought an IS 350 for my wife at the same time as my LS460L and her seats blow a lot of cool air.... probably 5 times the amount that mine does.

That is really interesting. Did you ever make that comparison to the dealer? If so, what did they say?

I have checked this out for people lots of times. This option will cool the seat
some but isn't going to get cold at all. It will only lower the temp slightly.

IIRC, the IS 350 seats are ventilated, while the LS 460 seats are cooled. Ventilated seats have a fan in them which blows air cooled by the air conditioner.

Cooled seats however actually have their own 'refrigeration' units which seek to actually cool the surface of the seat. They do not blow lots of air however. The technology was derived from NASA spacesuit engineering.

I tend to feel the cooled seats as a more subtle effect, but if you wear thinner pants material you can feel the chilling sensation of the cooled seat technology.

There is a fan, but it's not that powerful, but enough for some - like me in Canada. The technology is devised by Amerigon, an American supplier to many high end vehicles like the LS. The weight of an individual could have a bearing on the performance of this unit, as the air is channelled through the foam and the perforated leather.
