So, has anyone tried getting the Smart Card Key?

Hmmmm, that brings up an interesting question. I thought somewhere in the 1000+ pages of the manuals, or maybe it was in a print review, I read that if the car drives off without the electronic key that it would stop running after a brief distance. Does anyone know about this?
Anyhow, with all the traffic, I barely made it on time to drop him off at the drive through drop/pick up area. Needless to say, I was THIS close from forgetting that he had my key in his pocket. We really enjoyed that laugh.

My Miata came with one. ![Stick Out Tongue](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
It also does the proximity thing - I've never used the 'buttons' on it.
On each door is a tiny rubber button that locks/unlocks the door is the key is in range. Under lid of trunk has a tiny rubber pad you touch to open also.
Works great.

I have been following up with my dealer on the smart card key and this week they were able to order it. Came in overnight and I just came back from picking it up and getting it programmed. Smart card key was $299.33 and $47.95 for programming. Fits in my wallet just like a credit card (albeit slightly thicker). Works great and best of all it's one less thing to carry in my front pocket!
