This reminds me of an incident that happened a couple of weeks ago. I gave my friend the keys to the LS to load his bags into the car, as I was taking him to the airport, so he can catch his oversea's flight.

Anyhow, with all the traffic, I barely made it on time to drop him off at the drive through drop/pick up area. Needless to say, I was THIS close from forgetting that he had my key in his pocket. We really enjoyed that laugh.

Didn't know that. Nice theft deterrent; now if it would just become electrified in the process... No more tows....

I'll have to try it...

just like the normal control. as long as it's certain distance within the car you can just touch the door handle to unlock (i believe)

My Miata came with one.

It also does the proximity thing - I've never used the 'buttons' on it.

On each door is a tiny rubber button that locks/unlocks the door is the key is in range. Under lid of trunk has a tiny rubber pad you touch to open also.

Works great.

I have been following up with my dealer on the smart card key and this week they were able to order it. Came in overnight and I just came back from picking it up and getting it programmed. Smart card key was $299.33 and $47.95 for programming. Fits in my wallet just like a credit card (albeit slightly thicker). Works great and best of all it's one less thing to carry in my front pocket!

I think it's only available for the LS right now.

It's pretty cool in practice. I'm getting ready to stop carrying the normal key fob (which is heavy and bulky).

Just realized one downside tonight. You can't have the car flash its lights in a parking lot to find it without the normal key fob.

zzzzdoc...is it just a card with no buttons on it? Too bad if you can't press anything. I find that pretty useful in a crowded lot.
