This thing is faster than I thought

I've been driving V8 pony cars (Mustangs and Camaros) since 1977 and the only cars quicker that I have driven than my LS 460 are the 1999 SS Camaro and my present 2005 LS2 GTO. What I find reallly interesting is that my wife could not handle the neck snapping acceleration in my Camaro or GTO, for example, but sittiing in the back of my LS 460 with our daughter playing video games, it appears I could go full bore to 130 and she would not even notice.

Lexo.....I was just thinking that same dam thing yesterday and just saw your post. The car all of a sudden got faster..I looked down and I just turned 6-k. I've always been very much in tune with my cars and bikes to every little nuance.
I see your ZX is a bad azz ride....
Here is a pic of my six cylinder Valkyrie
This is a pic of a Kawasaki triple 2 stroke I'm restoring and in the background is a 1978 Yamaha XS 650 Tracker

I was talking to a friend and mechanic about how the car seems faster now at 6-k and other people on the board had experienced the same thing.
He said it's possible Lex had the ECU programed to hold the car back, timing, fuel delivery etc so the engine would properly brake in. I thought their may be some truth to that. Just a thought and very interesting.

I highly doubt that Lexus did this for the first 5000+ miles. Cars are usually broke-in within the first 1000 miles.

Garyr, that's a nice Valkyrie!! Man, can you turn corners with that...? Everything looks so close to the ground there...
As for the LS becoming faster all of a sudden... I don't know... I was babying it for the first 5K miles (before the 1st oil change) and after that I started pushing the gas pedal deeper, maybe that's why.
I had another chance to full throttle it a couple of days ago when I was joining the freeway - there was nobody in front of me and I was doing around 65 when I floored it. It took a while to down shift (in normal mode) but man once the revs passed 3,000rpm the torque was evident. I lifted when the car was just over 125 - what I loved is that it felt like I was going at 60.
In fact going at 60 feels like 20 in this car.
