Default New Toyota iPod integration- anyone looked into it?

I'm considering having the new offical Toyota iPod integration installed (http://www.tuaw.com/2007/09/02/toyot...tegration-kit/).

Has anyone looked into the level of integration w/ the LS 460? Specifically I'm interested in being able to search through artists, albums, playlists, etc. directly from the steering wheel controls. Is it likely to work with the iPhone or the new iPods released today?

I imagine that you would be one of the first to use the integration kit, should you choose to. I think it's around $300.

Has anyone found out any more info on this? I went to my dealer and asked about it and they said it doesn't exist.

Tell them to talk to their cousins in Europe. Looks like they got it first. Toyota Europe Link

Arrow From the service and parts director @ my dealership

... I received word back this morning from Lexus on the I-pod integration. The article that came out is partially true at this point. The unit is available in Europe but not for North America. It should be in The states tentatively first quarter '08 if everything goes as planned. When asked if we can get a European unit and bring it over, the answer was no, as they have a couple of different features on their cars vs. ours.

Hope this helps a little.

Does anyone have any further news on the Lexus iPod integration kit? I would opt for the Vaistech kit but would rather wait for the Lexus unit if possible.

I have the Vaistech Kit, works great I can go through play lists through the screen on the radio, volume, seek, fast forward are all on the wheel now. I am very happy with it. I had the dealer mount the wire in my center console where I just plug in my I phone and leave it there. Phone and Ipod all work great. just my two cents.......

Default Iphone compatibility

Has anyone heard any update about the availability of the iphone/ipod integration kit from Toyota? I love my LS 460 but its driving me crazy that I can't transfer my phone book from the iphone to the car. I am hoping that the integration kit will allow for seamless transfer. And why have a beautiful luxury car that can't play my mp3s from the iphone directly via bluetooth?? using the nav screen/steering wheel functionality?? For a car that is lauded as a technology-laden vehicle, Lexus sure fell down in this arena.
