The Navtraffic lines don't show up in Central NJ, I think. It did inform me about accidents and detours in the immediate area. It just announced it out-of-the-blue and I was really surprised. Didn't know that it will do that. I thought I needed to press the XM icon to get it to talk?

exact location, screen is super bland, no traffic or gas stations
and most roads aren’t named. (The list goes on and on ..)

It is so pathetic that last week I bought a Garmin nuvi 680 that
now sits on the dash. It is GREAT! But, isn’t it disgusting that a
MB owner has to buy a portable nav to stick on the dash?!?

I’m not faulting any of you who want to “correct” any problems
you’re having. I just couldn’t help but share my experience.

I assume you mis-typed when you stated the above, highlighted, underlined and italicised comment?

I thought he might have meant about ES 350 vs. E 350, but it does say he's talking about a Mercedes NAVI system...

The only qualm I have about my MB CLS nav is that it is not touchscreen. Other than that, I think they are about the same.

Jettie, I was close to buying an 07 CLS550, but in the end went with the LS460. I'm just curious about your opinion of the two cars versus each other. I think the 06 and 07 models are virtually the same except for the boost in hp for the 07 model.

I liked the look of the CLS because it really is distinctive, but my biggest concern was the reliability issue since I usually keep my cars a while.

Thanks!

The CLS has not given me any issues not like the past MBs I've owned. I've not had to go in for service except for the regular service requirement plus whenever I get a nail in the tire..LOL. I've not had the nav crashing, air suspension complaints or windows refusing to close issues I've had with the SL500 and SL55 that I've owned in the past. It is typical MB driving and handling. The gas pedal is heavy and you feel the heaviness of the car. But, it has excellent handling, acceleration and overall performance. Quite a gas guzzler though and don't expect the same mileage you're getting with the LS460. No rattles or squeaks after almost 2 years of owning it. The only downside is it only seats four. I agree with you on the styling. I think MB has good designs...too bad they've had so many quality issues the past few years.

Yeah I dunno, jimm criticized the E 350 navi, and based on my experience I do agree with the lack of touchscreen and featureless screen. I also think with real time traffic it's way easier to simply touch the spot on the screen to get accident info.

Thanks for the review Jettie!

I'm thrilled with my LS, but when I do see a CLS go by, I always go hmmmmmmmm!

Anyhow, I hope Lexus introduces this feature to other cars in its lineup as well, LA traffic is often a nightmare.
