WTF??? 130 mph top end???

Yeah, I read that the actual top speed is 170 mph, but in the U.S. it is electronically limited to 130 mph:

That was the thing that struck me about the LS 600h review by Richard Hammond which said that the UK model goes to 155 mph, hmm. Also reported by Channel 4.

I wonder if it is a safety thing, but the first LS was set at 155 mph, so were the others...and I checked and the LS 460/460L/600h/600hL in Europe are all 155 mph.
Also, according to official US Lexus specs:
1990 LS 400 -- 150 mph
2000 LS 400 -- 149 mph
2001 LS 430 -- 131 mph
2005 LS 430 -- 130 mph

Seriously, it would be crazy to go beyond 130 mph here, I love fast cars but I'm not stupid . . .
For a sports car where there will actually be more than a few owners taking it to the track or dragstrip, then maybe they should set the limit higher.

It may not be a bad idea considering the condition of a lot of the freeways in some of our states including Ca. Some of them you would think you were in a 3rd world country. They are starting to repair some of them. They will probably finish in about fifty years. By than the Green people will have control of the Gov. & the limit will be 50 MPH.

It sucks, but unfortunately you really can't go that fast on North American roads due to the low speed limits compared to that of Asia or Europe (in some cases speed limits are not even posted).
The LS is capable of FAR more than 130mph.
For enthusiasts though, Lexus has listened and the IS-F will be electronically limited to 168mph.

Yeah some of the roads especially around SoCal are pretty beat up. And really nobody wants the astronomically high speeding tickets associated with going 80+, much less 100+.
