I have just joined this forum and was glued on it for quite a long time reading all the threads. Very interesting..

I have bought my LS460L (4 seat version) blue mica in march and have clocked about 26K kms already...

I like to ask if anyone knows where I can have the original remote start kit installed. I bought it from my recent trip to Japan from the lexus dealer, I thought our local dealer in Dubai - UAE will install it for me but in vain... I have the installation manual but it is in Japanese...duh..

I am wondering if I go to a third party and have it installed, will it work? I think it needs to be programmed using the smart key.

Any input from you all.

Is this original remote start kit available in the US? It is not available here in UAE.

Welcome to ClubLexus, Nabil! Congrats on your LS!

The OEM remote start kit is not available in the US, and one of our local Toyota dealers, Carson Toyota, got one from Japan, but they didn't even have the installation manual are were unable to get one.

Maybe if you find someone who can read Japanese they can help you translate the manual.

And actually Carson Toyota, the dealership, was looking for the installation manual.

Thanks for your reply, Yes this is exactly what i have as per the pictures.
The part nos. for the Kit are 08181-50080 Remote start and 08180-50010 Remote start set.

I have a additional manual which one of my japanese friend managed to squeez out of a local Japanese dealer. It was difficult to get it... This manual has a step by step guide with wiring diagrams. I am going to have it translated and use my LS460L as a launch pad.. Will advise the results within a months time. This manual will be made available to anyone interested.

yeah this is still a mystery item for most of us... i am sure some of us here in the US wants it too, but the installation is either very hard or no one here knows how to do it

Doesn't look to have the remote trunk release on the remote either, unless that i button does it.

Good luck with the installation, so far on this forum the US owners who have remote start did not use the OEM version, they went aftermarket. You would be among the first to get it to work. Yes, and it is very nice of you to offer to share the details of how the installation proceeded, some of our members are very interested in how it works.

Is there actually a factory option in a 2007, or 2013+ for remote start in the US ?? What year do you think it would work with.

There is this kit.... It's under $75 and the install is only 5 wires and you use the factory remote.

I had this kit installed on my 2007 LS460L and moved it to my 2014 LS460....

Never an issue. I use it almost every day in the summer and in the winter when it gets below 40 out..

Neat to get a OEM one, no question, I bet the range is better but, it's over $1000 more than what I did...LOL

Haha I have bunch of those about. Set consists of a fob (pictured itt), bus buffer ecu, new cert/smartkey ecu, extra antenna (for long range control) and bunch of wires. I'd love to get my hands on japanese manuals for those. 99% sure I can make it work if I had these...
