Default LS460 Dealer Lifetime Tire Option Q

Hi,

I just picked up a 08 LS460. One last minute add-on offered was a lifetime tire replacement (3/36" wear indicator) for ~$2K. I may still be able to add it in the next day or 2. What is you opinion?

Thanks,
j

i never understood the tire replacement.

to my current understanding, they will replace the tires when they get bare? isnt 2K a really good deal then? since tire replacements are like $1000 each time?

there must be a catch

They would NEVER offer that option here in Pittsburgh. With our hills, tires NEVER EVER EVER make it more than 20,000 miles. Heck, if they offered that I'd jump on it in a fraction of a second!

Also, they said they might be able to specify a Michellan replacement in the contract. As such, what would be a comparable Michellan tire (I am used to MXV4+s)?

Thanks again,
jeff

I don't like tire replacement programs or buying my tires from my Lexus dealer. I prefer to buy whatever tire I want at the best price available wherever I am at the time. If you travel much and have a tire problem on the road the tire replacement deal would just get in the way.

Travel can be an issue, but it appears that this could very well be the best price available, perhaps by far, for a longer term owner.
