wow that's expensive...toyota parts are so expensive nowadays...the rear bumper off a 2008 tundra will run you about $2500, which is probably why our dealership got broken into

All i know is that when I talk to lexus and also I comfired when I picked up my car is that there is small wires in the black part of the windshield where the wipers are and that they heat the glass so that the wipers wont stick. The price from Lexus was another aprox $200 but My insurance is covering it anyways. The installer told me that when they pulled the windshield out that the connector has a cap that he had to take of and plug in to the new windshield. I really dont care do to the fact that I highly doubt that I'll be driving it in the snow and parking it overnight where its below freezing, I live in California. I just didn't want to wait 3 weeks fo my car. BTW I called another Lexus dealer to ask how long it would take and they said 2 days but I highly doubt they called the distributor to see if they had it in stock which is how I got in the position I was in.

Same thing happened to my LS460. Three months old and wham about a dime sized crack right in the middle. It had long cracks on it so it couldn't be fixed. I had to have it replaced with original Lexus windshield. I did have the extra windshield coverage. It cost me 100 dollars. One month later I was driving back from Houston and it has happened again last week. I am going to take it to the glass doctor and I think this one can be fixed it is a little smaller.
I think the Lexus windshield cracks too easily.

I'm sure your just trying to be funny but I'll respond anyways.
Not all Lexus glass has the heated element in the glass. I had the original and it did not. Defrosters do not heat the glass below where the wipers rest.

Wow! I had no idea that the LS in some parts of the nation comes with heated elements in the glass. I don't think mine does and I live in cold winter climate.

Mike, it's a brand new process. They take a (preferably) used bong. Throw it on the ground. Breaks open...voila...it's called the "resin" process. All the tech does, is scraps a little resin off to fill the crack in the windshield.
It's been said that this process is very popular in WA,CA, and HI.

henry, move to AZ
we have full glass coverage with no deductible on our insurance for like 5 bucks a month
you can claim it as many times as you want, I already repaired the windshield once
don't have to pay a dime if it ever need replacement

nop, not the case here in socal for sure.
In Mass. they treat it as a safety issue, hence the requirement for insurance companies to replace cracked windsheilds. Up through this year the insurance industry is highly regulated by the Commonwealth. However, next year there will be open competiton and new insurance companies will be entering the market. Now I'm wondering if things like windshield coverage will change.

Just thought I'd ask while the windshield crack is on my mind -- If one has liability coverage only.. Would this still fall under insurance pays? I know it sounds counter-intuitive because I don't have comprehensive, but at the same time I am a long time client of State Farm and if it is a law (in my state.. probably not) then it would still be a saftey issue.
I am fairly sure the answer to this is a big fat NO, but just wanted to see if anyone thought differently. (I don't want to call my agent and ask such an idiotic question)
