My dealer (Lexus Northboro - although I bought the car in Fla) called me when the parts were in a few weeks ago to have the work done. Then they apologized to say that they weren't ready to do the repair until the Lexus rep was there.

Two weeks later, they called me while I was out of town to say that he was going to be there and they wanted me to bring the car in. When I said I was out of town, they offered to drive to my house (30 miles) and pick up the car.

Two days later when I returned, they delivered my car back to the house and the change is remarkable. I have about 2500 miles since the repair and couldn't be happier.

This week they installed the Homelink TSB.

Now if we could only figure out the NAV/DVD lockout...

And, I am averaging 26MPG since 9/1/07!

Thx for your report, gkw! Glad that your repair worked out well.

Had the TSIB for wind noise done on my LWB the week before last. Sorry to say, the wind noise is now much worse. I can now actually pick it up at speeds above 40 mph. Before I had to be going over 60 mph.

Reported results to the service manager who in turn reported it to the Lexus Tech specialist who was there when the work was done. Now I'm being told that they are aware of the spotty success of this current fix and are working on another solution. However, it will be 90 to 120 days before it is ready. You have to wonder if this is a run around or factual. Very frustrating. I said I want the car at least put back to the way it was before the "fix" while waiting for the new one. I am waiting for a reply.

In addition, my navigation is now acting up. When I set a destination, the car indicator will randomly wonder off the road and start giving out all kinds of crazy directions! Lexus claims they are aware of this problem is some of the LS's and will be taken care of when "Gen 5" (whatever that is) is released in the near future.

Default 460L wind noise

I have only read about wind noise on the SWB.

I have a 460L and when the two front windows are rolled up all the way I start getting wind noise. By tapping the window button down just a small amount the windows seat correctly and the noise goes away.

Does anyone else have this? I have mentioned it to Lexus and I am getting the "make a driving appointment with the factory QA guy........"

I will do this but it seems if they could adjust the window to not over-seat things would be fine.

Somewhat frustrated in So Cal.

regards,

Keek

Welcome to ClubLexus, Keek. Yes, a similar phenomenon has been reported by other members here, that the window motors push up 'too far' and thus disrupt the window seal, causing increased noise. I'm not exactly sure how they address that, however CL member Burnaby reported a satisfactory resolution in this thread, noting the window 'overtravel' issue:

Sorry to hear the fix did not work for you. Sounds like there was an error of some sort during the fix process. I agree that 90-120 days is extremely long to wait for a 'new fix' whenever that may occur (although there are rumors of something down the road, they are still rumors).

I suppose they test drove the car before and after? Yes it would be best they bring the car back at least to the 'baseline' wind noise level before the botched fix but hopefully they don't mess that up as well. Best wishes in getting a resolution.

One other thing--the Gen V NAVI is the standard NAVI on the LS 460 already. Perhaps they were referring to Gen V, version 7.1? Your vehicle may have 7.0.

I just came back from my fourth attemp to repair the LS460 L. The wind problem still exists. I spoke to a lemon law lawyer. I want Lexus to take back the car, but he think he can get me $4,000. Should I take the deal? Any comment?

I would hold out for them to take it back. They know it's a problem so I suspect they'll bite sooner or later. If you can afford an $80,000 (or so) car, a mere $4000 isn't going to make you feel better every time you hear that air leak whistle. Mewonders if the lawyer is selling you out for a quick buck?

I have not sign anything with the lawyer. He will only take my case if I agree to settle for the $4,000. The alternative is to take Lexus to court through a different lawyer. I'll need pay some fees upfront to get the case started, etc. I really don't want to waste anymore money. I read on Calif lemon law site that if Lexus fail to fix the same problem four time, they will have to take the vehicle back. However, my lawyer says that's not right since wind noise is difficult to measure. Any one out there that can direct me the right direction?

your right. I am going to write a certify letter first to see if Lexus will buy it back. I doubt it, but I think that 's first step.

Get rid of it quick. Don't give them another chance to fix it.

Just got my swb ls460 back from the dealer after having the wind noise fix performed. They placed more insulation, changed some of the seals, and installed the laminated glass. Before the fix, I used to have a wind noise at 45 mph around the a-pillar. Now I can cruise at 75 mph without the annoying wind noise.

My dealer mentioned that newer 2008 swb ls460s have the changed seals and the better insulation. However, they still don't have the laminated glass. When the dealer gets these newer ls460s, they just install the laminated glass to fix the wind noise.

I don't know why Lexus isn't installing the laminated glass at the factory? I guess, they're waiting for people to complain. Not good in my opinion. Just think of what it's costing them to ship and install at the dealerships.
