Yes they are supposed to be comfortable in addition to protecting your head!!!

Sit in an ES (or any other car) and then in an LS and tell me that you can't tell the difference in the headrest. Using your philosophy we would all be driving bright yellow cars, netting on our windows, no radio's and flashing lights on top of our cars (that only go 10 mph). Safety is built into our cars but Lexus still wants this to be a fine luxury car that is both safe and comfortable.

Also, I use my headrest all the time. When I am driving, sitting in traffic, etc. And look at the BMW headrests with the comfort seats. Do you think that they might want you to be comfortable too?????

What's wrong with bright yellow cars? This is was the first car I bought new (no kidding)...

Kidding aside, I do appreciate the fact the headrest are comfortable, but I didn't rest on them, after reading this thread I was trying to rest my head on the headrest on my 3GS and I do not find the position comfortable, I found it to be a strain on my neck, it is an unnatural position for me.

Actually I don't mind bright yellow cars either. I just sold my Speed Yellow Porsche this past summer but I loved it! But talking about an uncomfortable headrest
