Wheel locks may not be such a bad idea

That's in the middle east right ? At least they get the 19" 5-spokes as standard (I think all of the pics from that region I've seen have those on their LS460's). But maybe it's not the OEM wheels that's stolen in this case ?

You are right, they could be non-OEM, but usually those are parked inside, and never left on the street.
Surprisingly, the bolt pattern only works for the LS (they use to steal LS rims and sell them to Camry owners) and since they are standard on the LS, I'm not sure what the thief was thinking

I think there are still many even in this forum who are not aware that the LS460/600h wheels have a different bolt pattern from the rest of the lexus models ?

yes, agree, even here on clublexus there are only handful of people who know the 4ls has different patterns
plus, those wheels could be used on any bmw, that's big enough of an incentive i guess
wheel locks won't stop any good thieves from stealing you wheels, but they do slow them down a bit. and if they have the choice, they would go with the car next to you without the lock

There are places where there is demand for Lexus wheels on BMW's ?

My only complaint about them is that because there are so many spokes, it's time-consuming to clean them (lots of surfaces!). But they're SOOO much better than wheels with lots of nooks and crannies and those godawful rivets ... that's toothbrush work!
