The procedure posted by onepointon works fine, but for the sake of accuracy, the owners manual page 561 says simply to hold the start button until the reset procedure completes, rather than pressing it twice.

So is the light mileage driven or is there a senior in the oil which says "hey I am dirty change me"? So if you want to run 10,000, or 7,500 miles between oil changes and not 5,000 you can just do the reset thing and the light goes out for another 5,000 miles?

All of this only applies to vehicles with this option. My 08 has the service system on the Nav Screen under "menu" and allows entering air filter intervals, cooling system, brakes, etc.

I think he's talking about the oil maintenance reset light, not the navi service menu.

Mine came on after 5,200 miles or so?

Great worked like a charm. Interesting that this Reset isn't linked to the navigation screen reset for oil and filter.
^^^That is correct. Make sure the Trip/Odometer is set to "trip A". With ignition off press and hold the reset button. While pressing the reset button, press the start/ignition button twice to turn ignition on. Keep watching the trip/odometer display to flash the lines (-----) until you see it flash the zeros (00000) then it'll read out your "trip A" again. Then you release the reset button.
