Default New Packages for the LS 460

I thought something had changed on the Lexus website where you "build" your vehicle using the packages they have available, but just confirmed this with the local dealership. After the base level, the next package will be at $68,065 which has the Nav System but not the Mark Levinson system. To get the Mark Levinson system, you must go to the next package which will be priced at $71,935, but it will also include the parking guidance system and the Lexus Link. I thought this kind of sucked since I want the Levinson system but not the parking system or the Lexus Link.

I guess you can order the car to the specs you want, but will just mean a longer wait, huh? Anyone else heard of these new packages?

What you have to take into account is that the packages shown on the "Build it" part of the website reflect the cars/packages your dealer tends to have.

That is, when you enter your zip code, the website displays what your dealer is likely to have in stock, because dealers in different parts of the country stock different package and option combinations depending on local demand.

So, you're not likely to see all the options packaged up the way you might like. I noticed that when I did mine, and finally figured it out.

Mike....but I assume you can order a car to your specs, correct? I would imagine that might mean quite a wait, but that would be an option? My sales person did tell me that if I really didn't want the parking guidance system (which I don't want) they could take some additional dollars off. Hopefully they could find a car that would have the specs I was looking for. Thanks for the info though.

depends on your definition of "spec". if it's an available option in your region, then yes, maybe you can custom order. but for example if you want black wood with black interior, no, that's not possible

Yup....I know about the wood/interior/exterior combination deal. But maybe I could order the car with the Mark Levinson sound system but not have the parking guidance system? However, I might just try and find one that fits my tastes....still not ready to pull the trigger though.

Yes. Subject to what Rom said, you can order any of the available options or packages. But if you use the Build feature on the website, the packages shown are actually geared to locating a car at a dealer in your area. Notice that if you read the "fine print" when they ask for your zip code, it discloses that.

Carmakers these days would rather you find an "already-built" car than order one.

Rugby....those models are still around, but the new cars being built in the factories are being put together differently. I test drove one this past weekend with the ML and no guidance. But as those models get sold, the new models with the package deals I described will start to arrive on the lots.
