Bluetooth at times is a pain in the tailpipe. For short trips sometimes you just want your phone RIGHT THERE, WITHIN EASY REACH and within EASY SIGHT.
Velcro is the greatest...you just grab it it's there.
I am not trying to get on your case daryl, but I also need to ask again (as romin has) how is bluetooth "a pain in the tailpipe"? What can be simpler than answering the phone by pressing a button on the steering wheel or how can it be any simpler than dialing a frequently called number by the speed dial function? Heck, even the voice recognition works OK as long as one speaks loud and clear.
I guess I don't understand this entire thread about where to place the phone. Who cares? Why not keep it in your pocket, in the console, or anywhere else?
