Even if we're not in a recession, all this talk brings down consumer confidence. It will be a few years down the line before economists can properly measure all the indicators to determine if it is a recession by definition.

The point is to not fall into that and change your patterns (although you shouldn't do something super risky as spending more than you earn/can pay off).

You think that the problem is a car that gets 15 MPG instead of 20 MPG. With your brilliant logic, why aren't the hybrids and more efficient vehicles keeping prices down?

There is something called the weakening dollar, artificially limited supply, etc. It has nothing to do with a Hummer or an LS for that matter that has a V8.
