Default Can someone describe this "WIND NOISE"

Is it from the sun roof area of the car while you accelerate?

the wind noise that everyone has been talking about?

if so, no, it's from the side windows. specially, close to the mirror / a pillar areas

The wind noise that 460 owners have complained about and made threads about. I've noticed when I step on the gas, I hear a some noice around the sunroof area. I've made sure all windows are closed and opened and closed the sunroof.

With all the joints and cracks present in a car, it is impossible to seal out not only wind noise but all types of noise. In fact, if the cabin is made quieter by the best methods that money can buy, some previously ignored sounds suddenly begin to rear their ugly heads. I believe this is Lexus' dilemma. Having said that, in my case anyway, there was some noise that became apparent during the first few months of ownership. At first, I dismissed them as I had upgraded from noisier cars like Acuras.

Last week, my daughter took delivery of a brand new TL, and she asked me to take it out for spin. Man, what a difference. That "new" car had "severe" wind noise and other noises that would now drive me around the bend. It was a major relief to get back in my LS after this experience. So, some of the LS's wind noise is real, and some is subjective. Lexus has worked to cure the worst of the wind noise it can, and I'm fully satisfied with the outcome. I don't see how it could be any better without re-engineering the whole car, and I doubt we'll see that anytime soon.

The wind noise really isn't that bad, but it does come from the front windows. The only wind noise that bothers anyone in my family comes from eating at Tommys.

Sunroof noise is probably the easiest to cure. The sunroof has all sorts of adjustments, and they usually just turn the adjusting screws to seal it better.
