Default NAV Update on'07 To Eliminate "I AGREE"

I just scheduled the pulley recall for my 2007 LS460. I asked about doing a NAV update so that I no longer have to press "I AGREE" and the service adviser said he knew nothing about it and that Lexus would never do that due to liability.

I am sure that I read that the '08s no longer require "I AGREE" and that you guys with '07s are getting dealer/factory updates as well. Can someone give me the specifics so I can fax it to my service adviser?

Thank you!

Lexus is not alone doing this. I recently drove an '08 Acura TL; it had it. I purchased a Magellan Maestro 4250 for car rental use; it has it. Don't know about other vehicles, but it wouldn't surprise me if most if not all did. I've requested the 7.1 upgrade from Lexus, and according to some who have had it done, the "I agree" screen is gone. I hope so or I'll end up with egg on my face.

My understanding is that the legal notice is still there, but goes away on its own after a few seconds (without having to push agree)

correct, no need to press i agree, but there is a warning screen for couple of seconds and then go to map screen

all 08 are with this setup already (7.1). for 07, come from factory is either 6.1 or 7.0, both have i agree button. you can upgrade to 7.1 on the 07, but you will have to pay. lexus does not have free nav upgrade. your dealership might do it under good will, but it's not from lexus

Generation V is the basic type of the LS 460 NAVI, 2007 onward. However version number, the 2007 has 7.0 (or 6.1?) and the 2008 has 7.1. 7.1 is the one without "I Agree" IIRC.

Is there anyway for us to install it ourselves? I see Sewell Lexus has the updater with the software for sale, but it says dealership installation only.

Updates are downloaded via a laptop computer.

What the customer is in fact buying from Lexus is a "use only once" hardware key that authorizes the transfer.
