Default BMW - very unrelaiable

I traded in a 330xi for my LS and had the same experience. The BMW was in the shop 4 times for various things.

12,500 miles on my LS and only scheduled maintenance.

The 330xi was very harsh and noisy above 45MPH. To be honest, I can't see much difference in handling, even though I keep the air suspension on "Comfort".

About the only thing I miss is the standard transmission. The CVT on my LS is great, but I sure miss rowing those gears.

Yes its totally true. Even after more than 10 years of Lexus' arrival here, some people still refer Lexus as an upgraded "Toyota". It was so bad that some people thought that I downgraded my previous Mercedes E240 to a LS460. I was comparing the resale value of the Mercedes S350 and the LS460 SWB. A S300L loses even less at only about SGD 30,000 (USD 22,200) but the resale value of the LS460L (with the standard Executive-Class Seating Package) is horrible losing about SGD 110,000 (USD 81,500)! That amount of $$$ can buy me a new loaded LS460L in America!!! I would not want to own a BMW or Mercedes-Benz after its warranty is over as I've experienced so many problems with these "old" German cars and with their poor aftersales service, I guess that Lexus is a better buy.

It's the same here in Germany. You can sell a BMW or Benz but good luck trying to sell your used Lexus. Lexus here have terrible resale value.

I've heard former Singapore PM Lee Kuan Yew has a LS460 too ? He switched from Mercedes to Lexus since the late 90's because he's sick of reliability problems, that's what I've read.

No diesel models available for Lexus models except the IS certainly doesn't help either ...

Regarding resale... as it is important... we keep our vehicles for a very long time. The LS would replace a 1991 350 SD, bought new and with a new engine put in at 85,000 miles courtesy of Mercedes, though we did share a portion of the cost... now has 190,000 miles on it and looks excellent... one body style that does not go out of style, just ages like fine wine. lol... so the LS would be held for many many years... well...at least thats our plan.

Oh maybe its true because according to the Lexus service center their family (including the current Prime Minister, Lee Hsien Loong) has lots of Lexus. They also told me that the former Prime Minister, Goh Chok Tong (Lee Kuan Yew was the first Prime Minister before him) also uses a Lexus too. I frequently see Lexus being escorted by police cars. I once saw a beige GS300 being escorted by 2 police cars. The president also frequently borrows a black Lexus LS460 from my dealer which is supposed to be used as a test drive car (this was according to my salesman when the only LS460 used for test drive is missing). The President also has a white LS430. BTW, there is only 1 dealer for every brand in Singapore except Chevrolet. Sadly, the use of Lexus by influential people does not help the sales at all.
