Unfortunately, I don't think any 2007/2007 LS460s are still under the original factory warranty, so none of these fixes would be covered.

 

If they would still be covered..it would be amazing ...but for a handy man ( or rather..in these days...a handy person) it could be a DIY

None of the Lexus TSIBs in the Lambros list have been effective in reducing wind noise except for the part that replaces the glass in the front doors. Most wind-noise-suffers have found relief with the DIY fix that is here: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls4...noise-fix.html

Yes, part of this TSIB (http://www.lambros.net/LexusTechInfo...L-NV009-07.pdf) retrofits the windows in the front doors with laminated glass. There are no indications that any of the elements of the TSIB were beneficial other than the glass replacement. The glass replacement only applies to all 2007 LS460s (swb only) and a few of the early '08 LS460s. Many of the '07 LS460s were not regarded to have the wind noise problem even though they came equipped with the single ply glass. I am confident that the window retrofit is beneficial but anyone having a problem should do the DIY trim repair first and then decide if they are satisfied.

 

What I found with the window replacement on mine was the reduction of noise from traffic passing on either side. The DIY Trim fix has been the most successful for wind noise. I still find myself bumping the window down slightly for optimum results.

 

Unfortunately, for those of us that did not get the glass swapped out, I fear it would be prohibitively expensive now.

 

Found a little something today at the dealership that I wasn't aware of. If you look at the 2007 photo, you can see the fender stops at the door. But if you look at the 2014 photo you can see they changed the way the fender covers the door opening. It is clearly bumped out in the areas I crudely pointed out. I can't see how they would do this as a design feature because who would actually notice this? Anyway not sure if its been discussed before, thought I'd add it if it hadn't. Sorry the pictures aren't the best.

That is interesting. I am going to look at the door seal at that location and see if there is anything there that would lead one to believe it could contribute to wind or road noise.

 

Or maybe the quality control over panel fit is sliding?

 

I have owned a 2006 LS430 for a number of years and logged 197,000 miles with no issues.
So I purchased a low mileage 2008 LS460. The one thing I did notice is quite a bit of wind noise and visited this forum. I applied all of the fixes and did find I had the laminated glass on my car. But still had more noise than my 2006. So I started trying things and have now come up with a fix that greatly reduces the noise I had. What I found is the chrome strip on the outside bottom of the front windows has a gap under it. There is a rubber gasket there but it does not contact the main part of the door in fact it was easy to slip a putty knife under it. So I ran a piece of blue 3m tape along the strip and took the car for a ride. And the wind noise had gone down quite a bit. Removed the tape and put a sealer under the trim and things are much improved. Had to post this because of all of the great advice I find here.

Do you mind taking a picture of your fix?

 

Guess you could run a small bead of a black sealant along the chrome strip and seal. Mine appears to fit tightly at each end but is slightly away from the car door metal through the center portion.
