Range Rover VS LS460
I originally bought the LS460 for me but my wife liked it so much that it became her car and I bought a Range Rover. Consequently, I really don't drive the LS much but today I did after about 2 months and I must say that I forgot how great it is!!!
I think that when you drive a car every day you tend to get used to it but after being away from it, below are the things that I really missed:
Quiet: The Range Rover is an SUV cutting through a lot of wind so it is loud. For those of you who hear a lot of wind noise when driving the LS, you should ride in my Range Rover.
Comfort: The Range is a truck and is not even in the same league when it comes to comfort. The seats of the LS just seem to fit my body better and are much softer (especially the headrest). The LS is just a nice place to be.
Power: The LS seems to have unlimited power at any time. The Range is heavy and is more sluggish (I have the standard V8 and not the supercharged). I have to be careful driving the LS because it is so easy to be over the speed limit by 20 MPH without even knowing it.
Interior Beauty: The LS has a beautiful interior that is superior to any car I have been in.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my Range Rover but I am glad that I have the LS also. It is different and great in so many ways. I know that things occasionally go wrong (and we talk about that on this forum) but it is a great car so don't take it for granted!!!

Yup I am totally in agreement with you. That is why currently I am on my third Lexus (1st 2001 LS 430), my wife is on her second, and even got my kids to the IS away from the european competitions. But the only problem I have is that I expect perfection and even Lexus disappoints me at times.

It really is a nice combination because the Range Rover handles jobs that I don't like giving to the LS.
For instance, when going to the city and parking on the street in the city I always take the Range because you can raise the suspension so that your bumpers don't take a beating from incompetent parallel parkers. It is also easier in traffic because you can see over everything. It also see's all of the trips to the grocery stores and Lowes.
I tend to want to protect the LS as we plan on keeping it for at least 5 years so the Range gets all of the every day wear and tear jobs.
allklr, I have the full size Range Rover (HSE).

I hope you enjoy frequent visits to the dealer and don't plan to keep it beyond the warranty without a deep pockets (Range Rover)

Anyway, I don't plan on keeping it long. I probably will get a new one when it is two years old...

I wouldn't make this generalization as the Range Rover isn't a ford explorer or a typical SUV. It is an $80,000 luxo cruiser / SUV so the result isn't as obvious as you might think. Some SUV's (X5 comes to mind) would probably even be more like a sedan. With the same token, I don't think any sedan would have impressed me as much as the LS. Impala VS LS460...
