Question Help with 22" Wheels

I recently installed 22" wheels on my LS460L. I keep getting an error message on the dash that says have your dealership check the tire pressure monitoring system. I've selected the change tire button several times and after riding for about 20 minutes the message comes back. Any ideals on what the problem is?

Are your new wheels TPMS compatible? and if so were the sensors transferred? There is a possibility that if they were transferred one may be damaged? I would just work down the list starting at reseting the tire pressure button. Also how much psi are you running in your tires.

I had brand new Lexus TPMS sensors installed on my 20" wheels and got the same error message. The reset button below the dash didn't fix the problem. I had to take it to the dealership so they could re-initialize the TPMS system with the new sensors. I think it cost me about $75. PITA, but warning lights drive me nuts!

I've installed 22" wheels also, but I did not have the error message. Instead of transfering the sensors I've bought 4 new sensers to go with my wheels.

Definitely interesting. Just to be clear, I did not have my factory TPMS sensors switched to the new wheels. I purchased an additional set of sensors that were installed on the new wheels. I wonder if the factory sensors would have worked properly if I had just re-used them? Could that be the difference?

I would guess the reason that they didn't use the factory sensors is that they are very large and some 22's will not allow for the sensor. Depending on where the hole for the sensor is. Mine did not so they banded them to the inside on the wheel and I haven't had a problem yet.

The wheels have their own TPMS. There are two valve stems on each wheel. One regular and one TPMS.

Ah now this makes sense. Whenever you install new sensors they have to be re-programed to the cars computer system. My Zone wheels used the factory sensors with no issues. Hope you are able to figure it out.

Ahhh, that makes sense. I will take the car to the dealer. Also, did you have any issues with tire rubbing in the rear?

No rubbing whatsoever. That would depend on your wheel offsets.
