Locking the car with the windows open
I lock my doors even when I leave the windows or moonroof open.
I've always figured that locking the car enables various security mechinisms, such as engine lockout, etc.
Am I incorrect in this and, in fact, there's no point to locking the car with the windows open?

Yes, you should always lock the car even if the windows are open. The alarm will still go off if someone opens the door. You can try it yourself, just lock the car with the windows open and reach in and open the door.

correct, that's a dead move. the alarm will go off, and the door will keep on locking itself and she won't be able to get out.
next time if you want to do that, don't lock the door yourself, ask your wife to use the power lock button from inside the car
a while ago my friend took off his door panel on his gs400 and demo the oem alarm system. it's pretty interesting to see when he tried to pull on the door lock wire (when the alarm was going off), you can see the door lock wire pull on itself 3 times a second

Yea, but Helmar, that only applies for 3 weeks in the summer in Maine!
