Default Need Advice On Wheels For LS460 Wald 21' or 22'

Hi everyone,

its been a while since ive posted on the forum, but it doesnt mean i havent been on reading. I picked up an LS460L a few months back and im debating on some new wheels. These are my choices.. I can get the 22' Portofinos Forged which I love. But my only concern is that i need more tire for protection. Another option, is the Wald Mahora Cast 21'?

Can someone help me understanding the difference between the Cast and Forged. I heard the Forged are stronger than cast, but in comparison to the size difference what do you guys think is best?

THanks so much!

OH yeah, Forgot to Mention, the Mahoras about half the price!

it's good to here from you! Good to see some peeps from 04 and letter up on here. Personally it doesn't matter the difference, the portofinos are phenomenal on that car!!! Hands down. You can buy tires with rim guard, a thick rubber lip that protrudes past the rim lip instead of sitting flush. This will help protect your beautiful rims from accidental curb rash. My vote is on the portofinos...

Do you/will you be getting a kit?

I kind of like the mahoras, sort of like the E63 amg wheels-porsche.
1/2 the price is tempting also

For the portofinos, you have to put a kit on to look good

Forged wheels are stronger and lighter than cast wheels due to the different process used to make them. That is why there is a significant price difference between the two.

If you're looking for more tire protection, then go with the Mahoras. It will allow you to go with a 35 series tire. With the Portofinos, the thickest tire you can go with is a 30 series. However, the forged Portofinos are stronger wheels, so it might almost even out the chance of wheel bends from potholes if you were to go with either wheel.

Taking what GS3Tek said into consideration, I would go with the Mahoras because no one (at least not that I know of) in the states has them yet, and because I dig the concave face design. They will almost look like 22's because of the 'no lip' design and should look great on a nicely lowered LS460L.

hahaha, yes, the mahora's price is way nice... and also, i do like the fact that i have Not seen any LS w/ these wheels.

As for the car, yes it has the wald kit and roof spoiler and all.. everything is pretty much done to the car.. all i want to do is new wheels...

I still have a few weeks to decide what i want to get..but as i love both, the only concern to me is the strength and little on the cost.

portofinos definatly, I love the design. dont get me wrong the mahora is a great wheel as well, but you cant beat light weight forged 22" porto's on the LS. Mahora will look better on a smaller sportier car like the IS or GS.

here is my fav pic of the LS with those wheels. You might mentioned it but what color is your LS???

There is something about the Portofino'sthat just screams, "Put me on an LS"
Plus, 22's belong on the car.

Oh.congrats on the new car!
