I took my LS in today for it's 5000 mile service check, and when they rolled out with an IS250 as my loaner car, I was initially excited to get a sportier car. However, my spirits sank a bit as I found my head touching the ceiling (I'm not tall, just slightly over 6 ft) even with the seat all the way down. But I quickly missed my LS as I started driving. The most amazing difference was the loud noise in the 250....the wind and road noise was amazing....it made me realize how spoiled I had gotten in a very short time. I realize it isn't fair to compare the 250 to the LS, but it sure can make you appreciate the LS all over again to drive another car. Always good to get a reminder.

I have yet to take my LS460L to the first scheduled maintainence, but the LS460L rides smoother & is quieter than my SC430 at all speeds, plus the superior ML
. It does feel heavier than the SC430 though, as it should be . . .

Lucky to have GS350 as loaner, all I've ever had are RX's & ES's, & an IS250 once - service manager said he would never use IS's as loaners again after that one, since it got many more scratches & dings on the car from loaning it out than other models . . .

According to Lexus stats, at 100 km/h the LS 460 shows lower dB noise from 1-4 kHz, while the LS 430's dB noise is slightly lower at 500 Hz. Other reports indicate that the quiet is generally the same, although some more engine noise has been allowed to be heard at certain times.

I wasn't coming from an LS430 so I cannot comment directly but I will say it is by far the quietest car I have ever been in. It is really a different experience (for those who aren't coming from an LS) to be in something that is so silent and peaceful.

My business partner has a 2006 LS 430 ultra lux and I had to pick it up for him one time and drive about 20 miles.
All I can tell you is what my experience was, and I can tell you without a doubt, that my LS460 is much quieter. Plus, the feel of the 430's cabin was much lower grade to me. Quite frankly, I was shocked.
I've read posts by others on this site that claim the 430 is quieter. I just can't fathom what they are talking about.
