2008 SWB LS 460 GCC Spec Question
hi all, I'd like to know if 2008 models have the wind noise problem or is it only in 2007 US models? i have a 08 SWB LS 460 (Kuwait) and I'm beginning to suspect that i have this issue. i checked all the windows of my car and they are all Lamisafe windows. please guys this is making me crazy so any help will be greatly appreciated.

I own a 08 LS460 SWB with all laminated glass and complained once. I think the problem is that we are expecting a lot from this car as it is supposed to be " (one of) the quietest car in the world" and we complain after we hear a little noise. Actually the car is already very quiet when compared to the S-Class.

Your car most likely has the "Triangle Trim Defect" that many 07 and 08 LS460s and LS600s suffer with. A solution is detailed at the following location on this site: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=352398
The discussion is quite long, over 14 pages, but there is information throughout. You may not want to suffer through reading all of that but there is a lot of good stuff there. There is a DIY procedure with pictures at Post #9 and #10 on page 1. If you decide to try this without reading the rest of the discussion, I would suggest you follow the procedure closely because any short cuts may not get you optimum results.
I informed Lexus about this solution back in April but to the best of my knowledge they are not doing any repairs like this without some arm twisting. If you are able to get a dealer to do this for you, make sure they do it exactly like the procedure shows.
If you are unable to locate Permatex sealant in Kuwait, I would be glad to help you get some.
Good Luck!

I own the LS 460 l executive.I never had the wind noise issue, but I heard from at least 2 owners of (ls 460 2007) , and one (ls 460 l, 2007 )that they had the wind noise issue. They also told me that the dealer is offering free fix.

The dealers and Lexus have been offering free fixes for some time and many have been ineffective. I urge you to get any free fix that is available. If you have exhausted all the help from the dealers and Lexus and still have a problem, you should look at the triangle trim fix.
It is a myth that you hear noises because your car is so quiet. As far as saying the LS460 is quiet when compared to other cars - it is really quiet when compared to QUIET when all the fixes are in place.

thanks guys for all the info. I contacted my dealer and they offered a free fix to the problem. after a couple of days I'll take it there. BTW, how long does it take to implement the fix?

If they repair the triangle trim defect it could take from 10 minutes, to replace the trim pieces with new parts, to 24 hours if they use the old parts and the silicone sealant type fix. I think either way will get good results.
Please let us know what type of fix was applied and if it is successful.

here's an update guys: yesterday i took my car to the dealer and explained the wind noise issue thoroughly. they asked me to keep the car with them to do some tests and get back at me once they're done. they gave me an ES 350 as a replacement car till the work is "hopefully" done. man i miss my car already ! driving an ES is fine, but by no means even comes close to driving the LS 460. once i get any info I'll post an update.

hey guys here's an update.... the dealer called me yesterday around 11 am and told me the car was ready. i went over there around 12:30 pm and waited for my car to be delivered. 15 minutes later i got my car. the technician that was handling my car had the day off so i couldn't ask him the specifics of the fix. i took the car for a test to see if the fix works. to my utter delight it did! the noise was reduced to about 85% from before. i can finally drive my car in the harmony i was dreaming about.
PS: before the fix there was an annoying wind noise also coming from the back center console but forgot to mention it. luckily they checked the whole car for any wind noise problems and almost fixed them completely!
