Moonroof wind deflector noise

Moonroof wind deflector noise
Seems whenever the moonroof is open and speed is over 45 or so the noise generated by the wind deflector is pretty loud, and gets louder as the speed increases. When you reach up and hold the spring-loaded deflector down it's much quieter, however puts more wind back into the rear seat.
But being the troglodyte that I am, and we don't have people in the back seat very often I made up a proto-type of something that works.
This is a piece of plastic salvaged from an old refrigerator egg tray.
I cut out a piece that's 3 inches wide, 11 inches long and just under 1/8" thick. Using a heat gun that I usually use for shrink tubing on electronic projects, I bent it into the shape below. The below pic is just a prototype and I hope to bend up something more "Lexus Like" later. Maybe I'll use the triangle pieces around the mirror.

Why not just wedge the deflector's linkage so it doesn't pull up when you open the sunroof? I doubt it would make an audible difference at lower speeds anyway, and since the annoyance is not going to go away at high speed, then a semi-permanent, elegant solution like silicone sealant for instance, would keep the deflector locked down but would still allow it to be released at resale time.

I'll take another look, as my gadget looks pretty klutzy and could cause problems if the roof closed and the gadget was still in there.

Actually I considered that first but couldn't comfortably find a place to put the 'wedge' that wouldn't interfere with the track/rail mechanism.

(FIY - A "Truss Head" screw is a very shallow screw head with a larger than usual diameter.)

Good point. The screw actually has a flat black plating on it. Looks like the camera's flash made it look like stainless or just steel, but I'll dab some black nail polish on it as cheap insurance.
