Default Trunk Question

I have the power trunk close function, but my question is: if I shut the trunk manually (without using the button), will I harm a motor or anything else? I tried searching, but couldn't find the answer. Thanks.

I have been concerned about this with other power door systems, and I think it is fine to close the door manually, just do it with a 'normal' effort and not slam it hard. That's my opinion.

if you close it hard you may damage the hydrolics system. I know a person who damaged it with a bmw

if you want to close manually, open the trunk manually as well by pushing the button twice like double click, then the hydraulic is disabled.

the indian guy didn't even waited untill it opened and closed it while it was still openeing and there was a ressistence

but if the hydrulic feels that u r forcing it the other side

it will disable buy it self

if there is somthing in the way it will reopen by itself

If it didn't close so darn slowly, it wouldn't even be an issue!

I think the advantage of a power CLOSING trunk is that you can push the button and walk away. It doesn't matter how slowly it closes.

As mentioned above, you can override the speed of the power OPENING trunk by pushing the trunk button twice on the key fob, and then opening it manually.

I like these multiple, flexible trunk features on my LS 460.
