Can't Confirm Locked Doors
My wife, who drives my LS infrequently, makes a good point/complaint. After locking the car doors, she always grabs the handle to see if it's really locked. And because of the touch unlock thingie, you can't do it on the LS. I set my mirrors to fold in when the car locks, so I've told her just to be sure the mirrors are in. But she does make a good point. Not really a "problem" but an idiosyncrasy of this advanced technology.
By the way, my car is almost a year old (11 months to be exact) with 13K miles and ZERO defects. I've been back to the dealer twice at 5K and 10K and that's it. I did replace the Bridgestone tires that were more than half worn at 7,000 miles with Continentals that have a 60K warranty. I probably should have argued with Lexus about that, but I decided to save any potential "argument" for a bigger issue...that, so far, doesn't seem to be happening!

You probably know this, but in case your don't: there is a visual indicator on the front doors, where the old push down lock was on most older cars, that shows the state of the door locks (it actually shows the state of the alarm system) for about a minute after the doors are locked. When the alarm system transitions for unarmed to armed (doors closed and locked) the indicators change from a blinking red light to a solid red light for about 1 minute. Just a point of interest as I would never get my wife to pay attention to such a thing.
I have 8500 miles on my 2007 LS460 SWB and except for the "Wind-Noise-To-The-Extreme" (now repaired) I have not had a single problem and remain very pleased with my car.

I actually never paid attention to that but will. As with your experience, my wife won't trade the "grab to confirm" for some light (that she'll never remember what "solid" or "blinking" means). But thanks for the tip, I'll check it out!

Great. You can send my share of any inheritance from your side to my local Lexus dealer toward my next car!

In addition to, but prior to Jmcraney's visual confirmation above, if your wife maintains her grip on the door handle after pushing the locking/arming button, she will find the door is indeed locked if she tries to open it. Only after she releases her grip, will the system default to standby mode. Next touch will unlock the doors.

Fine for a man, but some women (and even some men) like to check by pulling on the handle, "just to make sure".
You and I might think it's redundant, but "some folks" just want that extra check & know it's secured feeling.
My wife always checks, btw...

Speaking of redundant and Toyota....a friend (seriously) to me she was going to put an Obama sticker on her 2007 Prius. I told her that was redundant!
