Illuminating door sills
I read the 600 Pebble Beach has the letters Lexus light up on the door sills. My wifes new GL450 has this option and they light up blue and say Mercedes Benz.
I'm going to find out what it entails over the next couple of months and see if I can do the mod.
If anyone knows anything about this please share. If this model had been out for 6 years I'm sure someone would have documented the mod, it's tough buying the first year model.
Speaking of Mods, I wish this board a a page just for LS mods. I'm going to update my fogs with HID's and I would like to post it so others can learn off it...oh well.

if the 600hl has the illuminated sills, you can just get the sills (god knows how much dealership will charge for parts) and install it yourself. sills aren't hard to do, you just need to take it to the door lights and you should be set.
quite a few GS and IS people did it

Isn't this like the little light in the refrigerator? When the door is closed, how do you know the light went out?!

Somewhat similar, but with the fridge you have to take everything out, crawl in and close the door. Sometimes it gets a little stuffy in there, so you just need to sleep it off.

Well, first things first. I have to find out if Lexus makes a repair manual in DVD or book form for it's customers or is a dealer version available.
Next I'll pull the sill plate off one weekend and see if I'm lucky enough to find a powered plug outlet nearby.
My guess would be the LS's do not have one and I'll have to tap into a light circuit on the door light or something.

Ah, excellent! That's cool. For some reason the LS 430 UL I sat in at the LA Auto Show did not light up...ah yes, the car battery was disconnected there.
That's interesting to know that the LS 430 UL had them too!

Getting the 600 part is the easy part and what I would do....but before spending the $$$$ I want to see if it can be done. I have to see what powers them, if you need a low volt power source or they possibly may plug into some computerized controller I may not have in my wire harness. If it's a matter of just finding a 12volt power source I'll put them in easily with the door light circuit.
