My LS is very quiet, but I am always tempted by something new.

I had a 1998 750il and a 2007 Audi A8 and the "comfort" seats were amazing. If I could change one thing about the LS, I would like a seat with an adjustable upper back support.

I don't think that I would want the first year of a new 7.

you will never be able to compare the quietness of the ls engine to the loudness of the 7 series. BMW's purposesly let the car roar a bit, as their audience looks for in their cars as does Lexus owners look for the quietness of the engine. In deed, I miss having some throaty sound and was thinking of putting an exhaust on the LS, but I keep reminding myself enjoy it for what it's made for.

btw, bimmers are good if you don't intend to keep it more than 4 years, while lexus can be good for either a year if you get bored easily, or up to 15 years if you drive it until it dies.

i don't think you'll be disappointed with the 7, like any new/different car, you'll just find new/different things that you don't like

on a side note, i am a bit fond of the way the front of the 09 7-series looks, however the taillights look a bit reminiscent of the LS, and I personally don't think it works well on the bimmer, just my $.02... of course my opinion may change from seeing it person o_0

True story, early in the summer my boss asked me what car he should buy. I asked him what the main purpose of the purchase would be, pleasure, personal or business. He said business. He asked about the CTS, w221 and Lexus. I said for the purpose of what he wants the Lexus 350 or LS460 would be his best option. It shows a certain kind of class lacking in all the other models. I went on to tell him how much more reliable the LS460 was. Several months later he is driving a LS460.

I like the BMW 7 series ever since the 735's, but when it came to a practical choice the LS460 hands down won in all areas for me. Now whats further funny is I would prefer for myself CLS or the ES350 over the LS460, but thats just me. I am also fond of the LS430 Black on Black.

Because it is pretty much the quietest car on the road.
In a parking lot I can never here the LS460. It's almost scary quiet. Instead of wasting another 80 grand on a BMW... a cheaper solution would have to be...

Those will run you about $1.29 a pair at walmart and $5.00 at a drag strip =)

+1, it's VERY quiet.

The only car that I have been in that was quieter was my friend's Mercedes S600. That think is even quieter to my ears, especially when cruising down the highway. It's like a tomb in there...amazing.

get the BMW 7 and then tell me if that car is any quieter.....only problem is...you will almost never get to answer this question cause most of the time you will be driving a 3 series loaner car when your 7 is getting fixed!! Well in that case let me know how much quieter the 3 is compared to the LS!!

i wouldn't be surprised. the 600 engine is so powerful when you are cruising, the engine really isn't doing much

Its amazing how times have changed. BMW now only needs 4 day one time shifts to produce the new V-8s....

I am sure the new 7 will be a very good car.

I am surprised to hear that you think the car is loud. I do think my GS idles loud, but its the damn direct injection. do you have direct injection on the LS.? I wouldnt think that LS owners would stand for ticking noises coming from the motor after dumping 80k on a car. I thought the LS started at 65k. I guess I was wrong. I keep hearing they go from 65-110k. a little rich for mr right now. A used one would work pretty well
