One could argue that the electric motor's HP boost helps Highway performance, but that only makes up for the additional weight from the L configuration and the heavy battery, bringing the Highway number more in line with the 460. Looking back, I preferred the SWB 460 for Highway use because of the larger trunk space. Comfort on the other hand is greater in the 600, but that has to do with the increased wheelbase, the air suspension, and the quieter ride, so that would make traveling more pleasurable indeed, not unlike the 460L.
I wonder what they changed to gain those 65 extra liters, and whether this increase could be retrofitted on mine. The conventional 12V battery in the left corner of the trunk could have been better located under the back seat, imho. I will be looking at this very closely when they arrive in the showrooms...

LS 460 L Exec package new trunk space figures
Ah! I did think the numbers sounded a bit more generous...hmm...

If the 12.0 => 15.5 cubic feet data is true, that's a 30% larger trunk for the LS 460 L Exec!
BTW, no Exec class trunk size is listed for the LS 460 L AWD, just the 18.0 std.

2007 LS 460 L

I'm super angry about this. I would have waited for 6 months if I knew this was going to happen. The trunk space is the biggest flaw of my 2008 car. I can only carry one big luggage and one hand carry luggage in my boot!!!

The trunk in my 460L exec. is big enough for our purpose. We don't travel long distance driving across the continent anymore, we prefer to fly.
It's more than big enough for groceries, shopping bags, & the occasional weekend getaway that requires at most only a few small baggages.
When we go to the airport for longer vacations, no sedan with any trunk size would be enough to carry the luggages we usually bring anyway, we usually need to hire a taxi van.
And a good excuse for not picking up (cheap)friends to & fro the airport who aren't willing to pay for their own taxi at others' expense & inconvenience.
