Default LS460 Warranty at Invoice -Lexus Platinum

If you purchased the Lexus Platinum Extended warranty can you please post how much you paid and who you purchased it through. The LS460 at Invoice thread was a BIG help in my LSL buy and I'd like to see the same method work to get us the best Warranty Deal.

It's my understanding that these can be purchased from any Lexus Dealer and there are some dealers that will sell at or very near cost.

Looking to beat these #'s

7 - 75 $1,740
7 - 100 - $2,240

Anyone get better $'s?

Do you have to purchase it when the car is brand new? Or does the price goes up if you purchase it closer to the end of the new car warranty?

Thanks.

The longer you wait, the more it costs.

Derek,

I priced the warranty on 08's all the way up to 2.5K miles (priced it on a few used/demo/mgr cars) and the #'s I quoted above were the same. There was no difference between a zero mile car and 2.5 thousand mile car - all were 08's. So I know that the price does not go up if you wait and keep low miles but I do not know if it goes up if you wait a model year or more...

Is the extended warranty even worth it? I know it is on the Range Rover but will $2,000 worth of problems really occur on the LS460?

Lux -

For me the answer is YES as it = Peace of Mind.

I think in reading what has been said on the forums the concensus is probably not if you are not going to keep your car past the factory warranty....but I'm fine paying under 2K (hopefully much lower than 2K) to get the extra insurance and be covered for 7years. With all of the components - rear seat electronics, dynamic cruise control etc... that are on my L I don't want to worry about things when the factory warranty runs out.

i just called my local dealer and he said the price increases substantially after the 50k mile mark but the price is fairly consistent up to the end of the factory warranty

Now I am starting to rethink about this warranty. Is it directly through Lexus or is it a third party?

lux - we are talking about the Lexus Platinum Warranty - its a Lexus product and can be purchased from any Lexus Dealer - all they need is your VIN to do the DEAL.

I would wait until the end the OEM warranty period, then inquire, as long as you are under 50k miles, you should be fine.
A lot can happen between now and then and the $$$ might come in handy.

Yep - That's an option -

I inquired about the 7X100 warranty on the 600 and was quoted 3199 -- WOW. Not sure why it would be any more than the 460L warranty - the whole "E" system comes with a 10 Year from Lexus.

Nearing 1K miles and will probably pull the trigger on the Lexus warranty.
