Default Drilled bumper or No Drilled Bumper?

Not sure what the rhyme or reason is but It was not easy to find my L in the color and options and NON Drilled bumper... The majority of cars I found all had Drilled bumpers.

I eventually happend upon a non drilled but was wondering if drilling the bumper is more common in CA or is it across the country?

I plan to run the car w/out the front plate - ran previous lux sedans w/out for years w/out any issues from the law.

Is it a fix-it ticket in CA or pure fine?

I was looking for a non drill but it seems hard to find. at least at that dealer when i was buying the car.
The LS looks ok with it, seem like there is a space made for it.

in CA, it's a fine. (~$25)

Whenever I buy a car I make sure the salesman understands that if the bumper is drilled they will have to get me another car - no repair and not even a new bumper cover. And they have never drilled the bumper. Arizona doesn't use a front plate so this is usually not a problem unless they get the car from an out of state dealer but some dealers still like to put their own plate on the front. It always amazes me.

When I owned my E320, I purchased it with out plates in the front and never got pulled over. I did however have a cop ask me why I didn't have front plates and I said it came like that. I have front plates on my Q and wish I didn't, it really in abrasive to the look of a long wheel based car.

I also requested them not to install plate on the front bumper! I like the clean look and I have not had an issue here in Nor Cal.

Yep - same county here... No problems with other sedan's (7, S) - so I don't forsee any real issue. Looking around the neighborhood and we have at least 3 other (S, 7, even A8) with no front plates so I should be in good company :-).
