Yep...it looks like my car will be totaled...T-boned on passenger side on the way home a few days ago...hopefully insurance'll pay up and fix the car, but doubt it as there looks to be structural damage to the car.....any advice in dealing with insurance would be most appreciated from me....this is the only real accident i've ever experienced......side note, this is the BEST car to be an in accident in!....i felt like i was in a cocoon as the car spun out of control and landed in the ditch....side curtain airbags deployed beautifully!.....

and this happens after i finally get all the parts together to personalize my car....wald wheels, roof wing, grill inserts along with tanabe springs!!! if i don't end up buying another one (or dare i say even the 600hl?), then i'll be needing to get rid of these parts

i've also been thinking about the new bmw 335d.....i know, it's a totally different animal....what do y'all think?

I'll be brief and concise: the 600 is also a very different animal.

See if you can find a dealer who'll let you take one out over the weekend...

I had one of the mechanics driving my LS460 with me the other day (it just turned out to be a wheel balancing issue). During the drive, he said the LS600 was a fantastic car to drive.

Get the 335 for your mistress.

.....any advice in dealing with insurance would be most appreciated from me....

From the sound of the damage, you don't want them to fix the car. If the insurance company says they'll fix it, ask what they have assessed the damage at and what level would be considered a total. Then you can hire your own appraiser to assess the damage. If he comes out at the total value, get your insurance agent to intercede for you.

Insurance companies will always understate the value of the damage. However, if it costs more to repair the vehicle, they will have to pay for it (in Mass. anyway).

My next door neighbor picked up his new '09 LS460 last week, and after having it only 16 hours, he was rear-ended to the tune of almost $8,000.

And that won't buff out.

Wow 16 hours is tough! 09 to boot - paying a few k more only to get hit in the rear.

You will also have diminished value if they decide to fix the car. It sounds like you weren't hurt, which is more important than the car.

Sorry to hear about your accident...

ok, here's the update...had to wait til the stinkin insurance company finally sent their appraiser over to look at the car after the Xmas holidays....they said it's fixable to the tune of $20K and have authorized the repair shop to proceed....i've hire an indepent appraiser to give me a assesment of the damages/diminish value and amount of structural damage done to the vehicle....haven't yet decided to bring a lawyer into the deal yet....

22rear295....you'll have to wait to see if i end up keeping the car, buying a new LS and sticking the accesories on the new one, or whether to abandon the LS line completely...side note, except for the wheels, i've bought every other accesories from the vendors here on CL (they're all great to deal with!), contact them if you want/need accesories sooner (BTW, my roof wing has been prepainted SMG by backyards? in Cali and it looks very nicely done)

sorry to hear that man, really unfortunately. if it's really a lot of frame damage, 20k is not enough. 20k is not much to repair a car like this. but good thing is the car protected you well and you are safe!
