Default How much can i negotiate for LS460L?

Dear friends in this forum,

I'm a newbie here. Since I found this place few months back, I have been quietly following discussions. Right now, I'm looking for a brand new RWD LS460L for my dad. Since the economy is doing bad, and the dealers looking to move inventories in their lot, what should i expect when it come to the price? Do you guys think that they are willing to give me lots of discount for brand new late 08 early 09 RWD LS460L with the luxurious package? I think i will visit few dealers this weekend so that's why i need some idea when i come in the dealer. Please give me some feedbacks. (I'm livin in the Bay Area). Thank you

khoa- I picked up a 2008 LS460L this week with the touring package, ML, park assist and some floor mat options for $59,411.00 plus $589 doc fee. A pre-tax drive-out of $60,000. After 6% sales tax, a couple of other bogus state taxes and fees, the final price out the door was $64,078.46. The original MSRP was $80,994.00. This was a demo (new, never titled) with ~5,800 miles. Couldn't be happier.

Do a quick search and you will find lots of pricing info especially for 08's in CA and the BAY. If you can find an 08 in the color/combo you want (Not many 08L's left unless you want black/black) you should be in the 13 to 16K off MSRP range. 09's are at or near Invoice from what I have seen - (not too many confirmed 09 numbers to go on quite yet). You mention the economy is in the DUMPS - why not sit on the sidelies and wait a bit for the 09's to drop even more in price - say March-May.

What's the interest rate out there for an LS with excellent credit (800 FICO)?

Thanks G2 and terrain. My situation is my dad is in Vietnam and he wants to get the LS 460 L ship back home. I think I want to wait but I still want to see if the dealers still have some brand new 08 left on their lot and give me great discount on it.

Rates were in the 5 to 7 percent range. I saw a few folks post in the high 4's via credit union's. I would have loved a zero or .9 percent rate but none were to be found in December. Toyota has been offering zero for several months - so will have to see if Lexus sales fall off in 09 - perhaps they will start to offer on the L side.

Khoa - Good Luck - let us know how it goes. Dealers were quite aggressive in Nov-Dec - now in January if 08's are still avail I'd think they would be aggressive +1.

How much will it cost to ship the car to Viet?

Hi and welcome

Usually it is extremely difficult to find a dealer who is willing to sell you the car new and untitled for immediate export. As far as I know, dealers are required to sell their new cars to somebody in the states (residence) who then registrates (titles) it.

I copied this from an MB forum, I suppose the same restrictions apply to a
LEXUS dealer:

" As I understand it MB dealers in the US are prohibited from selling a car locally and then shipping it outside the country. They risk losing their dealership from corporate.

One way around it I thiink might be to purchase it locally, register it and PAY THE SALES TAX and then find someone who can ship the car outside the US to your desitnation. The local municipalities want their sales tax from any and all transactions so the dealer is forced to register the car locally which kicks off the sales tax process. Essentially you can not buy a car in the US and drive it off the lot without having it registered."

The procedure with used cars seems to be slightly different, e.g. no sales tax and no registration/title if you buy the car "for export".

Maybe it's worth the consideration of a certified pre owned vehicle,
you can find those on the lexus.com website.

Warranties are normally issued and recognized only in the country the car was originally sold, so it might be difficult to transfer a factory/extended/CPO warranty issued by lexus USA to Lexus Vietnam, though service might be possible (don't know how many Lexus dealerships excist in vietnam)

Hope my words could help.

I was an 812 and financed for 24 months with 15% down. I was told that the best "buy rate" that Lexus had was at 6.29%. With >10% down and financing over $30k it was discounted by a quarter percent for each for a final APR of 5.79%. This was for any financing term with excellent credit.

I called several other Lexus dealers and spoke with finance managers to confirm this to be the best available.

Good luck!

terrain,

cost me $2500.00 to ship my car to vietnam. For me, i will purchase the car, drive for few months then ship it to vietnam. I did it few months ago with the LX 570. Do you guy know how to purchase the car without paying the SALE TAX and then ship it oversea? I heard there is a way, but i don't know how.

That's a super low price -- It cost me over 5K to ship a M5 from CA to Hawaii... What company did you use for the 2.5K for the LX570? I'd seriously consider shipping one to China if I could find any reasonable way to do it. Last time I checked it would be in excess of 25K and possibly illegal-

No info on how to skip sales tax and ship oversea's --- back in the day we used to buy - and have delivered across the border to avoid paying the sales tax for that state. Ex- purchased a 928 from Scottsdale Porsche and had it sent on a flat-bed across the state line and paid NM tax.

Those rates are awful. With BMW and MB offering .9% and 3.9%, I don't see how they're going to sell many cars. They should drop the rate to what they are offering on the IS F, which is 2.9%. I'm gonna wait it out a bit and see what 2009 will offer.
