My sister has the RX350 and it has the illuminated door sill but in amber looking color.
The other day, I drove my uncle Rx400h, it has the blue illuminated door sill and it look so nice at night. I love it alot, and now look at our Ls, I am a little disappoint for that. any one knows where can I get one in blue like the Rx400h but for your Ls? (I found one off ebay but they are from Japan and they cost $850, that is damnn too much.)

They try to cost cut on at least the N.American models, that's the only way I can understand it ...... Maybe the USD has weakened too much already when they were about to launch the new LS a couple years ago, thus cutting into their profits, but that shouldn't apply to Canada, but since the sales volume for Canada is much, much lower than the U.S., so I guess Canada can't have something the U.S. models do not

From Lexus Japan's LS specs:

Other features:

Then again, the basic LS460 Special Edition costs US$112,000 before taxes. Pay more = Get more...
If you ordered the sill parts from Japan, it would still cost less than what they pay there.

Did you use the current USD/Yen exchange rate to calculate those prices ? Two years ago, when the Japanese prices for the LS there were about the same, the Yen still wasn't as high vs. the USD as it is now, & would not have appeared nearly as expensive as it is now.

seriously.. 100% agree, some of the things that are missing from the LS just don't make sense AT ALL
did the engineers just conveniently forget after all these crazy things they were trying to put it in?
i really wish i can talk to a engineer and smack some sense into them

side mirror turn signals?! i don't know the japanese LS has that? info?
cost might be a factor, but that on the flagship that sounds a weak excuse. those stuff together maybe another 1000 bucks (cost wise) to them, on a 60-100k lexus, that's nothing.
not to mention even years ago when dollar was much stronger, you still see the same kind of things on previous lexus.

I think it is probably on the order of a more conservative design intent/mission profile for the LS 460/430, which may be why they did not have front passenger memory seats as well for ~16 years...I remember wondering why the LS 430 did not have the illuminated sills but the SC 430, RX 400h etc did. At least there aren't Lexus emblems festooned throughout the cabin like some rival brands do. And it's pretty classy IMO to see the stamped metal Lexus sills.
Of course it's cooler to see the illuminated ones, the color also matters though. Orange or blue? Matching the interior etc. I would like to see the LS be the first Lexus to incorporate interior special illumination like some rivals, and now the some new concept/future production cars etc.

Very good Q - Asked the parts department last weekend to look up the part numbers for the illuminated door sills and I was surprised to find they did not exist. It's just a little thing/detail - but I thought Lexus was all about the details...
